Tax reclaims
If you’ve been paying taxes in the UK, there’s a chance you could be eligible for a tax refund, possibly going back for up to the last four years. The HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) allows you to reclaim overpaid taxes, and you may not even realize you’re entitled to a refund.
What could you claim for?
Mileage
Clients may be able to claim tax relief if you use a vehicle or bicycle for work. If clients are travelling to a temporary workplace, they could claim the tax back on the HMRC approved mileage rates.
Working from home
Clients may be able to claim the tax back on £6 a week for working from home costs. This includes if you have to work from home because of coronavirus (COVID-19). Clients may also be able to claim tax relief on gas/electricity and business phone calls.
